The Quebec map illustrates the locations of each project proposed in 2019. Despite the improvements, the model persists to be inadequate in an urban context, especially in the city of Montreal, which is still not considered.

Indeed, looking at the electoral map of 2022, a clear disinterest of the government to act in the metropolitan area appears rather clear. It seems that the new model only tackles suburban, peri-urban and rural districts where the CAQ were elected, although half of Quebecers on the MSSS waiting list are within the metropolitan region. In fact, only three Maisons Alternatives (MA) for adults with specific needs were proposed in Montréal, which means that to this day, there are no strategies deployed to enhance older people’s conditions in high density surroundings. The goal here is not to discredit the political party in place, but to outline the issue at a systemic level, and the repercussion of such decision on this vulnerable population. LTRC residents are directly impacted by politics, powerless over their health and their own future.
