Seen or Unseen ?

In an article, Annmarie Adams and Sally Chivers question how we should tackle design for such an invisible population? Make a statement in the city or blend care facilities in their context? Without a doubt, our strategy aims to blend all stages of aging within society, within each neighbourhood. By mingling older people with their neighbours, residents would once again feel a part of the something, of their community, thus it would enhance homelikeness only by social inclusion. Are blue signs and Quebec flags in front of each LTRCs really the way to make them seen? Or creating an interesting program to welcome people in these buildings is better?

Although the basic unit developed here (6 residents and 15 co-op units), might seem low, when the system is applied at a neighbourhood or municipality scale, the agency of such decentralization within the urban fabric becomes endless and gets us closer to a Dementia-ready
jurisdiction, which Quebec is not according to a report from CanAge in 2022.
